2nd the Russian medical corp. is poorly supplied and trained.
3rd Russian human wave attacks leave large numbers of wounded on the battlefield to die from lack of quick care.

Given these realities Russian killed to wounded ratios are closer to 1 to 2 rather than the 1 to 4 stated by the intelligence analysts used to American ratios. Authoritarian militaries don’t care about saving their soldiers, and treat them as cannon fodder.

1. China holds $1.1 Trillion (yes trillion) in US debt. That would be frozen or unilaterally abrogated in the event of armed conflict with the US.
2. China has a $400 billion/yr. trade imbalance with the US. Why would they kill the goose that lays golden eggs?
3. China and Chinese nationals have billions in real holdings in the US. Those holdings would be nationalized in the event of all out war.
Total cost to China would be well over $2 trillion dollars, not counting war losses. A loss of that magnitude would likely collapse the Chinese economy. Is an assault on Taiwan worth over $2 trillion to the Chinese?

What we see in the Korean Left is the same thing we see her int he US and in other regions. The continued fall back on old grievances for political expediency!

Nixon reaffirm the One China Policy upon opening diplomatic relations with Red China. Cater also reaffirmed the One China Policy and the Taiwan Relations Act affirmed the One China Policy by statute with qualifying language stating China should not militarily coerce Taiwan… the One China policy should be effectuated by peaceful means over time.

To renege or renounce 80 years of policy and statutory recognition is a HUGE mistake… China is not one of the ‘Indian Tribes’ where the U. S. could renege with little or no consequence… (U. S. Courts have corrected a number of U. S. actions concerning the ‘Indian Tribes’.)

The United States doesn’t have an International Law “leg” to stand on. The United Nations and the U. N. Charter all recognize Taiwan as part of China.

Almost the entire Community of Nations recognizes Taiwan as part of China, as does the U. S. and most, if not all of our important allies.

Defending Taiwan from China is “fools gold.”

The Red Line to draw is the South China Sea where China has annexed territory by Right of Conquest with militarily built up coral atolls against other countries’ 250 mile Exclusive Economic Zones.

China’s annexation has already been found in violation of International Law by the court @ the Hague.

Evidence is available that massive hydrocarbon deposits exist under the seafloor in the South China Sea, that is why China has annexed the territory in violation of International Law which incongruously they claim to respect.

This is where the United States should challenge China, not over Taiwan.

This brings back fond memories of usenet days, when the ability to post links in support of your argument was new. There were those guys who routinely included links to sites that did not in fact support their argument, and indeed often directly contradicted it. Much is made in the media of Xi ordering his military to prepare for a Taiwan invasion. Well, the USA prepared for an invasion of Japan in the 1920s with their Plan Orange. It was only after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor that we put that plan into effect, modified heavily by having to simultaneously fight the Germans and Italians in North Africa and Europe.

Every military plans for contingent wars, and they war game them constantly.

What we also know, or at least should know, is that the invasion of Taiwan by the PRC would be the worlds largest, most difficult, bloodiest, and most costly invasion of all human history, putting the D-Day invasion of Normandy to shame … and that invasion used armed forces many many times the size and equipage of the PLA and the PLAN. Such as, over 6 thousand ships … thousands of landing craft … over 2 million soldiers … ten thousand aircraft.

And even then, the invasion only barely succeeded, mostly due to the incompetence of the German defenders and their political leader Hitler.

And that was all to invade a mostly unoccupied coast of France mostly peopled by German soldiers, and the civilian population was extremely hostile to those German forces. Whereas Taiwan is occupied by over 27 million Chinese who definitely support their own forces and government and will resist the ChiComs to death.

If the PRC devoted even 1/10th the resources needed to barely successfully invade Normandy to invading Taiwan, the rest of the country would likely revolt against the regime. What most people forget is that most of the PLA is necessary just to suppress their own people.

Given their size, they might have enough power generation for all those systems to work.
