Marjorie Taylor Greene Wants to Impeach Joe Biden over Ukraine Visit

Marjorie Taylor Greene calls for Biden’s impeachment over Ukraine visit – Fresh off her proposal for a “national divorce,” the controversial Georgia Congresswoman said Monday that Biden should be impeached over his President’s Day visit to Ukraine. But it’s far from the first time Greene has called for Biden’s impeachment. 

Marjorie Taylor Greene Has a Some Big and Crazy Ideas 

For as long as she’s been in politics, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been known for outrageous statements.

For her first two years in Congress, Greene was a backbencher who wasn’t even allowed on committees.

But now, Greene is part of the House Republican majority, is on key committees such as Oversight, and is closely allied with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

But if you thought Greene would avoid outrageous claims, you clearly thought wrong. 

Greene this week, in a tweet, called for a “national divorce.”

“We need to separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government,” the Congresswoman said Monday. “Everyone I talk to says this. From the sick and disgusting woke culture issues shoved down our throats to the Democrat’s traitorous America Last policies, we are done.”

The call was met with outrage from members of both parties. Utah’s Republican governor, Spencer Cox, called it “ destructive and wrong and—honestly—evil,” and recommended “marriage counseling,” rather than divorce. Others noted that since Greene’s home state, Georgia, went for the Democratic candidate in 2020, Greene would likely end up in the new Blue State country. 

The proposal to split the country in two is highly unworkable for a variety of reasons.

Also unworkable is the idea of impeaching President Biden because he went to Ukraine on Monday. But Greene, also, proposed that this week. 

“Biden didn’t go to East Palestine, Ohio on President’s Day,” Greene tweeted Monday after Biden’s trip. “He went to Ukraine, a NON-NATO nation, whose leader is an actor and is apparently now commanding our United States military to world war. We must impeach this America Last fool before it’s too late.”

She also commented that President Zelensky did not wear a tie while greeting Biden in Kyiv, and implied that U.S. taxpayer money is being used to fund the Ukrainian president’s clothes. Then, she combined both ideas. 

“Impeach Biden or give us a national divorce,” she tweeted. “We don’t pay taxes to fund foreign country’s wars who aren’t even NATO ally’s [sic]. We aren’t sending our sons & daughters to dies for foreign borders & foreign ‘democracy.’”

Even before the Ukraine visit, Greene had said that Biden should be impeached for “funneling money to Ukraine while ignoring the ongoing crises in East Palestine, Ohio, and at the southern border,” as Trending Politics News put it. 

Not Exactly a New Idea

Greene, it should be made clear, has called for Biden’s impeachment many, many times, seemingly every time Biden has pursued a policy or made an executive action with which she disagreed.

Last December, she said the president should be impeached because of the deal that freed WNBA star Brittany Griner from Russia. Last month, she wanted him impeached after classified documents were found in his office. 

In fact, on January 21, 2021, the second day of Biden’s presidency, Greene introduced a resolution calling for Biden to be impeached. This was due to “abuse of power by enabling bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors,” specifically by “allowing his son Hunter Biden to influence the domestic policy of a foreign nation and accept benefits from foreign nationals in exchange for favors.” That bill was referred to the Judiciary Committee but did not advance further. 

That August, Greene introduced three more impeachment resolutions against the president, related to the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the situation at the border, and the president’s eviction moratorium. 

None of those are the sorts of things that have led to presidential impeachments in the past, although ironically, President Zelensky of Ukraine did play a key role in the first impeachment of Donald Trump in 2021.
