Lauren Boebert Won’t Last Much Longer

Lauren Boebert is a portent of things to come unless the Republicans start getting serious about power and policy. She’s an albatross around the House GOP and everyone knows it. Even Marjorie Taylor-Greene thinks she’s nuts.

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is one of the most colorful members of the House GOP – and we are putting it nicely. Known for sporting her firearm, using extreme gestures to make political points, and for happily declaring that she’d be voting to take America off the economic cliff this summer by refusing to raise the debt ceiling, one wonders how Boebert even won her election.

After all, she hails from a state, Colorado, that is increasingly Liberal. In fact, she won her last election bid by a mere 546 votes—the closest congressional race in the country in 2022.

How long can she actually last?

Lauren Boebert Gets Targeted

With such a small number of votes standing between Lauren Boebert and defeat, the Democrats have identified her district—Colorado’s Third—as being ripe for change.

Rocky Mountain Values, a highly effective Colorado-based Democratic Party advocacy group that made headlines in 2020 for going after Sen. Cory Gardner, has been relaunched under new management. Their sole purpose is to unseat Lauren Boebert in the next election cycle.

The controversial Colorado conservative, Boebert, has made headlines and gotten many followers on Twitter for her opposition to things like student debt relief, cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits, and refusing to raise the debt ceiling.

Yet, all politics is local.

And while national issues have increasingly dominated the discourse on the Right since the rise of Donald Trump in 2016, the Democrats have spent the last few years refocusing their attention on winning the oft-forgotten, though critical, local and state elections.

Just look at the way that the Democrats’ fixation on winning local prosecutor’s races has hurt the Republicans.

Does anyone really believe that, without the Democratic Party’s commitment to putting their preferred candidates in the prosecutor’s office in Manhattan, for example, that former President Trump would have been indicted as he was earlier this week?

Rep. Boebert has forgotten (if she ever knew) this fact. To gain notoriety and clicks, she has attached herself to some of the most controversial national policies and politicians. Boebert’s defense of Trump borders on sycophantic. Her commitment to ending the Big Three welfare programs and refusing to countenance student debt relief, has placed her on the wrong side of the elderly and the young. Since she is from a very Liberal state, her ultra-conservative social policies have alienated many voters in her district.

No One Likes Her

Even among Republicans, Boebert is not popular.

Yes, she has the “MAGA” crew on her side. But they only account for maybe 42 percent of the Republican Party base. A majority of Republican voters still do not consider themselves “MAGA”. They view themselves as “conservative”. They’ll support their party’s nominees, yes, but if they are unenthused about those candidates they might not turn out in the requisite number to stop the Democrats from winning.

Demoralization is the key here. The Rocky Mountain Values, and other Democratic Party backed groups like theirs, understand this fact. If these groups can demoralize enough Republican voters in Boebert’s district (and they wouldn’t need much to demoralize them), the Democrats can take Boebert’s critical district.

What Lauren Boebert should be asking is why is she hanging by a thread?

Of course, she’s one of the least self-aware people in elected office presently (which is a big achievement). Therefore, Boebert will remain blissfully ignorant, pushing down hard on those controls, thinking she’s saving the day but actually damning herself and the GOP.

The Republicans really need to break themselves of the cult of grievance and rage. It will lead only to their ultimate downfall. There are many problems facing this country and many of those problems have viable, even easily attainable solutions. What is needed is sane and stable leadership; adults need to be placed in the room and the plucky bartenders of the world need to be kept on the backbench until they can prove their mettle.

Lauren Boebert the Bombastic, Boebert the Loser?

Boebert’s district is going to be lost at this rate in the next election cycle because Boebert is really bad at her job. We have the largest number of retirees getting ready to pull on welfare benefits that Boebert gleefully calls for cutting.

Our economy is hanging by a thread and if the nation defaults on its debt because Congress and Biden cannot come to an agreement on raising the debt ceiling, it’ll be Boebert’s constituents most hurt. Does she think they’ll stand by her as their pensions are cut, the value of the dollar in their pocket plummets, and the already high interest rates go stratospheric?

Lauren Boebert is a portent of things to come unless the Republicans start getting serious about power and policy. She’s an albatross around the House GOP and everyone knows it. Even Marjorie Taylor-Greene thinks she’s nuts.

So “only” ~42% of Republicans are America-hating, Trump-worshipping fascists? And the other 48% are happy to go along with their nut-job authoritarian scheme to destroy our democracy because… they might get lower taxes? They’re uncomfortable with drag queens? Sorry, but Lauren Boebert and her ilk are a perfect reflection of today’s anti-American GQP.

It’s a good article and of course mostly true but the bottom line is who cares what MTG thinks? Her stamp of approval or disapproval on anything as much meaning as Bobert, and she is equally stupid.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee refused to give her opponent any money in the 2022 election, thinking she was a shoo-in. They should be ashamed.

It is wonderful to have a politician “Lauren Boebert” who stands up to the lies, corruption and criminal activities of the democratic party and even those who are just plain stupid and corrupt in the Republican party. Just to let you know it’s admirable to stand by your convictions and support Trump no matter what lies are said about him.

The democratic party needs to be abolished and its leaders imprisoned or exiled in order to save America.

The Boat Race (Face) ain’t too bad either, but what comes out of her Pie Hole is vile & pernicious hate speech.

Marjorie Taylor Green doesn’t think Lauren Boebert is nots–she thinks Boebert is competition for the limelight and for the VP slot on Donald Trump’s 2024 ticket.

Bahahahahaha You crack me up. The only reason this race was even close was because of all the CA hoppers hanging around long enough to illegally vote in her district. Then right after election day, “poof” all the CA plates cruising around the district “magically” disappeared. Do not be fooled, the only people who vote blue in this state live in the cesspool called Denver.

I grew up in Colorado, it was (and still is) pretty conservative outside of Denver, and the mountain tourist towns. The problem with Boebert isn’t that she’s conservative, it’s that she’s crazy. Hyperbolic entertainment candidates on the right or left are destroying our country. Time for centrism to ascend.

    Joe,
You need some new material because the rhetoric is redundant is growing old and it’s somewhat juvenile. You cannot put all Republicans in one group, nor can I put all Democrats in one group. Your comments speak volumes about the ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, and hate that rules politics in this country. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Thats the only way this country will move forward.

Her district in Colorado is NOT mostly liberal. Outsiders illegally voted in the last election in a national campaign to defeat her and she still won. Her district is the most conservative in Colorado, made up of Colorado values, not the California influence that has infected our state.

One other important part is that if you are a senior citizen, travel insurance pertaining to pensioners is something you ought to really look at. The mature you are, greater at risk you happen to be for allowing something bad happen to you while abroad. If you are not really covered by a number of comprehensive insurance, you could have quite a few serious issues. Thanks for expressing your ideas on this blog.

I’m a Texan, but fairly familiar with Boebert’s district because I visit there often to seen my daughter, her husband, and her in-laws. I know that most of the residents there are pretty conservative and like their Congresslady. So, she is a good representative for them. I also prefer the MAGA movement to the alternatives. She may not perfectly fit in with it, but I think there are others that don’t either. She belongs as that Representative and in Congress as far as I can tell.

Obvious Bias in article. I’ve wondered for decades who would have the balls to make the hard decision to balance the budget. We have weakened the dollar time and time again. Now our enemies are beginning with their own currency after Bided showed we would freeze the dollars of those whom we didn’t agree with. ( Russia) Freezing the debt ceiling will be hard, but not as hard as hyperinflation as countries flee the dollar.

Calling Boebert a “plucky Bartender” is a PATH-ETIC insult out of the cheap seats from a cowardly bully hiding behind his keyboard. You poor little kindergarten child! You have not said a thing about the actual Bartender from NYC (AOC) that thinks she was going to Congress and that SHE would sign bills into law. And that same mental midget makes the ridiculous comment that Republicans men hate her because they all want to sleep with her knowing they can’t. You slam one Congresswoman but cowardly refrain from calling out that particular IDIOT! What a hypocritical PUNK you are. The press continues to show their inability to speak the truth, they can only snipe with their keystrokes never having to be responsible for their words, lies and hypocrisies. Here is your gold star and sticker lil Brandon, now go have your lollipop and juice cup and we will wait for your next “toddler” temper tantrum. So far from the real truth. Colorado is not a Liberal State either. Denver is a Liberal city, but colorado as a whole is very conservative. The Californian who have brought their opinions with them have made teh state purple to a degree. People dont like Bobert becuase shes not afraid to sspeak truth and call it like it is. Colorado loves her! And MAGA or not. Better than the clowns we have in office now.

The author needs some basic education regarding the debt ceiling. First off, the US will not “default on its debt”. There is one and only one definition of debt default: the failure to make a regularly scheduled principal and interest payment on a debt instrument. Since the government takes in enough revenue to make these payments, it will NOT incur a “debt default”.

Second, if an individual, a company, or a country is already in a massive hole of debt, the absolute worst thing to do is to assume MORE debt, which is what raising the debt ceiling would allow the government to do. More debt means higher interest payments (at increasingly higher interest rates), which means less revenue is available for genuine government functions.

Finally, all debt must eventually be repaid. Raising the debt ceiling amounts to kicking the can down the road to punish the next generation for our selfishness.

BoBo isn’t right on much, but she’s absolutely right on the debt ceiling.

So many negative attacking adjectives, so few facts. Boebert is a reflection of those of us that are actually awake to the destructive forces in play in today’s increasingly anti-American, anti-capitalism, anti-God, anti-family, anti-childhood innocence, anti-sovereignty and anti-biology progressive party.

The irony of a party run by, and electorally (mostly) comprised of elderly white political men. They package up a couple of ‘attractive’ younger women but, after the glitzy gift-wrapping’s removed, they find the ‘ladies’ come with murmuring allegations of swinging, prostitution and abortion, and then it turns out that both LB and MTG are bat-shit crazy, reek of hypocrisy, and are deeply unintelligent.

So, having shot their own albatross, an intended good omen, the GOP certainly should have to wear it around its neck.

Well; It seems that the world would rather entertain lies than the truth; Lauren Boebert has the choice to say what she wants as this is the way the US prided themselves for decades all of asudden when
someone speaks the truth or their mind they are deem rediculous. It is wiser to live for what you beleive in than live for nothing. The article is a left-wing view.
The Democrats go on a spending spree and if someone objects to more debt, you claim they are tanking the American economy.

It is the Democrats that have voted for the spending that is ruining the American economy.
I applaud her efforts to try and stop that.

I live in Colorado along the front range. Happily the voting districts are determined by population not land area. Yes, much of the area of Colorado is extremely thinly populated, and very conservative. However probably 60-70% of the population lives in the front range area, and hence the state is moving briskly from deep red to strongly purple, maybe even blue. So all this nonsense about Boebert really representing her state is just not true. She represents a very small fraction of the states voters, but they happen to be very conservative. She will be voted out as soon as her constituents begin to wonder what she has done that helps them, or her next competitor has some financial support from the national DNC.

You have ruined our country, our currency, an have placed the USA on the center stage to look like complete fools. They would is tired of the USA and are walking away and dropping our debt on the steps of Washington. You have sentenced us and future generations to years of setback and suffering as we can remember how great the USA used to be. It is too late to repair, the corruption is so visual and deep.
