White House officials privately recoiled at Hunter Biden’s hiring of prominent Washington, D.C. attorney Abbe Lowell. Hunter Biden brought Lowell onto his legal team with the intent of going to war with his opponents and antagonists. Lowell has an established reputation at the go-to lawyer for embattled politicians.
“Abbe is not cheap, and you don’t bring in Abbe unless you want to go to war or prevent one,” a source told Fox News regarding why Biden would have likely hired Lowell.
Lowell has represented high-profile clients including Jared Kushner and Bill Clinton.
He was hired without having informed the president’s personal attorney, Bob Bauer.
His hiring also became an issue in Hunter Biden’s child-support case. Former Washington, D.C. stripper Lunden Roberts, the mother of his child, had her attorney suggest that if Biden could afford Lowell’s $855 an hour legal fees that his child-support payments should not be reduced.
Lowell Goes on Offense Against Hunter’s Critics
Lowell sent a barrage of letters threatening litigation against former Trump lawyer Rudolph Guiliani and others over the dissemination of files from Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop earlier this year.
He also sent a letter to the Treasury Department Inspector General demanding to know how former Trump aide Garett Ziegler had obtained information about Hunter Biden’s financial records from JP Morgan Chase.
Ziegler also published an in-depth report about the contents of the laptop along with a catalog of emails and laptop contents on his website.
Bringing Lowell onto the legal team led Biden attorney Josh Levy to quit. Levy had been recommended by Bauer due to his track record of having his clients comply with congressional subpoenas, The Washington Post reported in January.
Bauer along with other White House officials were keen on getting Lowell to improve communications from the legal team.
Democrat leaders Uneasy About Legal Defense Fund
Axios reports that his lawyers are considering creating a legal-defense fund. This makes Democratic leaders uneasy due to Hunter Biden’s status as a partisan lightning rod.
“For this fund to work, it must be extraordinarily transparent and even restrictive by prohibiting foreign citizens and registered lobbyists from contributing,” Anthony Coley, the former top spokesman for the Justice Department who was senior adviser to Attorney General Merrick Garland, told Axios. “Without these type of guardrails, the fund will be a legitimate headache for the White House.”
Biden’s legal time reportedly is hiring ethics advisers to provide guidance on how to proceed due to concern over who would contribute funds to the fund. No decisions have been made as to whether or not the fund should be created.
They particularly do not want to give congressional Republicans ammunition they can use in their investigation of Biden family finances.

Hunter can afford to hire this Lowell guy.
All he needs to do is ring his former associates in CEFC or Bohai Investment and money, lots of money, will start flowing in.
Only thing is, hunter needs to have dad first make the call, before he opens his maw.
Only that strategy will convince the people on the other end to cough up the money as it is deemed a totally solid investment to have the president of the USA eating out of your hand.
