Marjorie Taylor Greene Is Just a Total Disaster

Simply put, Marjorie Taylor Greene needs to go away – for the sake of the future of the Republican Party and the country.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Needs to Go Away: The Republican Party is increasingly unrecognizable from the days of President Ronald Reagan or even President George W. Bush.

The party has evolved, and some would even argue, been led astray by a few “right-wing nuts,” such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

The firebrand congresswoman, who maintained no committee positions until just recently when the GOP took back the House, has remained a devoted supporter of twice impeached President Donald J. Trump and has refused to condemn the actions of January 6, 2021 – when Trump supporters stormed the United States Capitol Building.

It is an event that all true patriots and Americans should see as a dark stain on our nation’s history. It was an embarrassment as it also certainly lowered our creditability on the world stage. How can we really see the United States as the land of the free and the home of the brave when angry protesters literally breached the corridors of power and threatened the safety of our lawmakers?

Greene has never condemned the actions. Instead, she recently went another direction.

During an event months back, during a gala for the New York Young Republicans, Rep. Greene proclaimed, “And I will tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would’ve been armed.”

The remarks were condemned by the Biden Administration.

“It goes against our fundamental values as a country for a Member of Congress to wish that the carnage of January 6th had been even worse, and to boast that she would have succeeded in an armed insurrection against the United States government,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said via a statement.

“This violent rhetoric is a slap in the face to the Capitol Police, the DC Metropolitan Police, the National Guard, and the families who lost loved ones as a result of the attack on the Capitol,” Bates added.

False Election Claims

Greene remains an outspoken ally of Trump, and has continued to espouse the false claim of fraud during the 2020 presidential election.

She had been questioned by the House select committee investigating January 6 over her role in the efforts to stop the certification of President Joe Biden’s win.

Given Greene’s rhetoric – not to mention her fringe beliefs of wild conspiracy theories, including those related to QAnon, for which she’s expressed only some regret – it isn’t surprising that the Southern Poverty Law Center has warned that she and other extremists in the GOP, are allowing the party to become transformed into one that draws the support from white nationalist and neo-fascists.

Unfortunately, at the recent event, Greene wasn’t met with silence or condemnation. Her statement about the Capitol Riot was met with cheers and applause.

It is a sign of the great divide in the United States, and in fairness to those cheering, it is likely the result of an onslaught of woke culture that can “cancel” someone for something they may have said or done years ago.

Yet, Greene is such an extreme counter to the dangers of our “woke” times that she is a treatment worse than the disease. There is a lot that needs to be said about the Biden Administration’s handling of inflation, energy independence, and border security.

However, Greene is someone who never has a tempered response.

She is a firebrand who says the outrageous and has the potential to instigate the masses. The suggestion that she could have “won” the Capitol Building riot speaks volumes about her and the direction of the new GOP. Even if the election was stolen – and there is essentially no solid evidence it was – then the solution shouldn’t be a violent assault but efforts to offer legal solutions.

And perhaps, the Republicans need to find candidates that are willing to govern, able to work on solutions and find ways of healing the nation. Right now, these new Republicans like Greene are worse than those on the left who want to jail Trump and ban all Republicans. Such suggestions that Trump shouldn’t even receive a trial – a point we aren’t even close to – is outlandish, just as the calls to label the GOP a criminal or domestic terrorist organization should be seen as a warning of the extreme left’s agenda.

Yet, even suggesting that armed violence is the solution is wrong in so many ways it doesn’t bear even noting them. Her absurdist claims only serve to further divide the country and give cannon fodder to the left. She makes all Republicans look bad in the process.

Simply put, Marjorie Taylor Greene needs to go away – for the sake of the future of the Republican Party and the country.
