Kamala Harris Needs Some Serious Help

Like Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, in an effort to sound more sympathetic to the working class, is fond of telling stories. But these anecdotes often drive Republicans up the wall. Her latest tale is one that is sure to rile the right. Harris told the insulting anecdote while talking to attendees in Colorado on March 6 at the city of Arvada’s Center for the Arts and Humanities.

Kamala Harris: What Did She Say Now?

She recalled her childhood in which she asked, “Why are conservatives bad, mommy?” This question came out of nowhere because Harris was supposed to be talking about environmentalism and climate change. Harris seemed to think Republicans were the bad guys at a young age.

Here Is Some More Background Behind This Story

Let’s offer some more context around Harris’ cringeworthy question. Harris was on stage with rock climbing pro and moderator Sasha Digiulian and Colorado Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen. The vice president was trying to recount how she became environmentally conscious at a young age.

“We called it ecology at the time. So, some of us who were born around that time know what I’m saying. And we talked about it in the context of conservation,” Harris said.

Conservatives Are the Enemy, Again

Kamala Harris related how she thought conservatives would want to “conserve” the environment. Harris has since determined that this characterization is untrue and that conservatives are “bad” for obstructing the Biden administration’s plan to fight climate change.

Republicans are the Enemy of Biden’s Climate Change Policy

This is another example of a Harris comment that has infuriated the right. Many conservatives are skeptical of climate change and are leery of Biden’s “war” on domestic oil and gas production.

Meanwhile, Harris has been struggling to find a role in which she can avoid controversy while still communicating Biden’s policy agenda. Naturally, right-wing Twitter had a field day lambasting Harris’ latest anecdote.

Conservatives Lead the Charge Against the VP

“Her comms team would be wise to keep her far, far away from a camera and a microphone. Forever,” according to 2022 New Hampshire congressional candidate Karoline Leavitt.

Pro-gun firebrand Dana Loesch believed that Harris made up the whole conversation to make her more likable with liberals. “This never happened,” Loesch tweeted.

Others took offense mainly because Harris resorted to her trademark cackling laugh after asking the “why are conservatives bad?” question.

“I can’t tell if she laughs because she believes the content is funny or because she knows there are a few suckers dumb enough to believe this actually happened,” author Virginia Kruta tweeted.

She Just Makes Messes In Public

Harris has struggled to connect with voters due to her propensity for speaking in unintelligible word salads. Politicians often insult their rivals and lump them into the same basket. Harris is no different from Republican lawmakers such as Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert who repeat outrageous partisan insults against liberals.

She Is Digging a Deeper Hole

It is just that Harris does not seem to be able to make it through a public appearance without turning off a broad sector of the population. She has trouble not only with basic communication on the stump, but her attempts at humor often fall flat and end up insulting people. This is not what Biden intended when he selected Harris for vice president.

When Does the Improvement Begin?

To be fair to Harris, she still has plenty of time to turn things around. Biden could get re-elected and that would give his vice president another four years after 2024 to muster her talent and potential to better communicate to the American people. Conservatives have clearly had it with the vice president, and they will continue to pounce on anything that Harris has to say that is offensive and controversial – not to mention highlighting her various gaffes and foibles during simple ceremonial duties. She needs to make friends not enemies and unite rather than divide.
